Lost in the Twilight - synopsis Losing her son was tragic enough, but the days, which led up to LAURA firing a gun in a crowded cafe, were filled with obsession and mental anguish. She now lays in restraints, locked in a sanitarium. But she may escape prosecution by undergoing a new radical treatment. Her memories will be synthetically procured and recorded, and then given to her lifelong friend, AUGUST, who will decipher which thoughts are harmful; especially the earth being destroyed come October 11th. Once August decides, Laura's memories will be erased. August sits at her kitchen table with husband ROBERTO as they listen to the dictated story: While watching a late-night black-n-white Twilight Zone, Laura sees an episode where a boy goes into a box and disappears. This shocks her; and with a Google search, she stumbles onto The Church of The Sea, and their leader RALPH NELSON. They are a creepy group who believe Rod Serling wasn't writing science fiction ... but warning of a literal future. Laura discovers her son Gabe is but one of many children taken away in these mysterious boxes. As she begins to sink deeper into the madness, she learns this cult also has sleeper cells, groups broken away from the main fanatics, declaring earth's problems -- global warming, fracking, etc -- as mankind's mortal sin. And to them, when Laura lost her son, it signified the soon end of the world. Laura eventually succumbs to the feigned good-will nature of Ralph Nelson, up until husband Nate is sucked into the box. The cops seek to detain Laura, but not before she seeks revenge on Ralph, doing the thing she believes against most; gun violence. August has now finished hearing Laura's memories. Laura, still in the Sanitarium prepares for the final dose to wipe away these events, and she just wants to live life again. But October 11th ... the prophesied doomsday has come, and everybody has their plan to make Laura their hero ... whether it's the hero who saves the world ... or destroys it. |
